Gereon Rother studied Law at the Universities Freiburg and Munich. In 1986 he joined the law firm of Krieger Mes & Graf v. der Groeben. He was trained in the field of patent law in particular by Ulrich Krieger. His activities focus on advising his clients and appearing for them in court, including courts of arbitration, in patent infringement and nullity proceedings. He is also well experienced in all fields of trade mark and design law, including competition law. Gereon Rother has acted as an arbitrator in national and international arbitration proceedings (ICC), especially in intellectual property right disputes, which has given him an opportunity to assess and decide cases from the point of view of a judge. He supervises many clients in and from Italy. His linguistic skills are besides German English and Italian.

Gereon Rother is a member of GRUR and its technical committee for the law governing inventions, and is also a member of the German national AIPPI group, the German-Italian Lawyers’ Association and the Association for the Study of Antitrust Law. For many years, he has been a co-author of the Commentary by Reimer/Schade/Schippel on the law of employee inventions and of the Münchener Prozessformularbuch on intellectual property law. He lectures on patent law and was for many years a visiting lecturer for intellectual property law at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal.
