After his studies in Bonn and Munich (1969 – 1972), Christoph Graf v. der Groeben served his official internship from 1973 – 1975 in the districts of the Munich and Nuremberg Higher Regional Courts. During that time (until 1976), he worked for Ernst Reichardt in the field of copyright, publishing, film and press law. After being called to the bar in Munich in 1975, he continued to practise as an attorney in Düsseldorf as of 1976. In 1983, he joined the law firm which later took the name Krieger Mes & Graf v. der Groeben, and has been a partner since 1985.

 

Christoph Graf v. der Groeben is active in all fields of intellectual property law. His activities focus mainly on patent and utility model law. There, he represents his clients in all areas of technology. He appears for them before all German infringement courts and also in opposition and appeal proceedings before the German Patent and Trade Mark Office, the European Patent Office and the Federal Patent Court (BPatG). In nullity proceedings he appears before the BPatG in collaboration with technically skilled patent attorneys, and at the appeal stage before the Federal Court of Justice (BGH). A considerable part of his work is also devoted to the law on employee inventions, copyright and design law. He has made his mark in the areas of trade mark and competition law, with numerous cases concerning product imitation. He has particular experience in cases of plant variety protection. In all areas of the law he offers advice on drawing up and concluding licence agreements and in developing intellectual property right strategies.Christoph Graf v. der Groeben gives lectures for associations and clients and has published a range of articles on Intellectual Property Law. He is a member of GRUR and the German national AIPPI group.
